Maybe you can put a smile on that face... Prison walls take much more than freedom from a prisoner, they literally handicap a person, instantaneously turning providers into dependents. Often times prisoners become so used to living life away from society, they lose their ability to communicate effectively, especially with the opposite gender. Throughout life, the average person regularly meets and interacts with new people, which I feel is one of the most valuable things taken from a person when they are imprisoned, and is definitely the thing I appreciate most about pen pal sites for prisoners, as they have afforded me the opportunity to potentially meet people who will encourage me to be positive and productive with my time. Just about everyone needs people in their lives who have a genuine interest in their well being. However, I understand that finding even one person in this world who will care enough about you to give you their time and benevolence is an immense blessing, and also a long shot, but I hope to be one of the more fortunate prisoners, who not only finds a friend who truly cares, but to find the blessing of an entire group of friends, who become the support system I need in order to repair my life. If you met a great person, would it matter where you met them? Making friends outside of these walls is difficult, however achievable. To acquire this, one must have vision beyond conventional boundaries, and be able to imagine more possibilities than we generally consider.
